Last weekend I spent two full days soaking in as much as I could from two extremely talented photographers, Stacy Larsen and Kira DerryBerry. It is so awesome to be in an industry where others are not afraid to open up, share and inspire. All of us artists need a little inspiration and creative fun every now and then. The best part about this workshop was not only learning from these two women but also meeting and learning from 8+ others from all over and sharing our stories and ideas. I really think that this differentiates those who move forward in this industry….having a great network of similar professionals and spending the time and money to further our skills and stay current. I am a strong believer in surrounding myself with positive people who love to learn and love what they do. Although I consider myself a wife and a mother first, this is truly my passion and I want that to show more than anything in my work. Here is a little sneaky peek of what Stacy and Kira had lined up for us. Thanks to all the wonderful women I met!
Work of Heart | Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies
It has been almost a year now of photographing the wonderfully amazing nurses at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies and today we finally celebrated the “Work of Heart” as we walked through the halls. I can’t even begin to explain the overwhelming feeling of seeing the nurses again and their precious little ones (now featured in large Black & white portraits and framed in hardwood distressed frames) on the walls. The once bare walls have now been transformed into a meaningful and warm display and I feel truly honored to be a part of such a great event and caring organization. After getting to know several of their executive team members as well, I am even further convinced that this hospital has a heart of gold and we are so very blessed to have their resources and technology in Orlando. I look forward to another year and more “heart” to be displayed in the near future. Enjoy!
Sweetness
I just don’t even know where to begin with this little bundle but to say “sweetness”. I am absolutely in love with babies and I truly get choked up when I see the pictures with the moms. I hope you all enjoy! I am off tomorrow and heading over to Tampa for a little time with the awesome Stacy Larsen. I attended one of Stacy’s workshops last year and could not pass up the chance to learn from her again for the entire weekend. I have already started to prep my little ones (ok, and my hubby) for my time away and hoping there won’t be to many dishes to wash when I get home =) I am eager to share what I learn with all of you and look forward to some creative rejuvenation!
